Hannah Einbinder Says AI Creators Are ‘Losers’

Hannah Einbinder has strong feelings about the use of generative AI in art, expressing extreme dislike for those who create it. According to SlashFilm, during a recent press conference for season five of Hacks, she bluntly told AI creators they are “losers” who were likely uncool in high school, even going so far as to describe a violent fantasy. Known for her outspoken views – she previously ended her Emmy acceptance speech with a political statement – Einbinder doesn’t consider AI content generators to be true artists. She believes they are trying to take credit for the talents of real creatives, which she insists won’t work. She characterized them as seeking validation they don’t deserve and suggested anyone associating with them does so for power, not ethics.

Jen Statsky, co-creator and showrunner of Hacks, has also been considering the impact of AI. Speaking at a recent event, she noted the tech industry’s strong drive to make everything more efficient, but argued that struggle and imperfection are essential to good art and storytelling. She expressed skepticism about the technology, saying she doesn’t think it’s being developed responsibly. Until there are safeguards in place to protect both creative work and people’s jobs, she believes AI is more harmful than helpful. This suggests the final season of Hacks won’t feature any storylines that promote AI.
