It’s not unusual for actors to not be cast in movies, but this situation is a bit strange. Just a week ago, Deadline reported that Ryan Gosling was confirmed to star in the next film from the directors of Everything Everywhere All at Once. Now, Deadline says he’s no longer involved. This change has led to speculation about potential behind-the-scenes issues with the Oscar-winning team’s new project.
Actually, the reports were incorrect. Ryan Gosling was still discussing the project, and the film’s shooting schedule in Los Angeles was fixed due to a California tax credit. Gosling had other commitments that clashed with those dates. So, the planned collaboration between the Oscar-winning directors and Gosling didn’t fall apart because of creative disagreements – it was a scheduling conflict.
The Daniels and Universal Pictures are still developing the project, and filming dates this summer appear to be confirmed. We should hear an official update shortly. There’s also a possibility Simu Liu, recently seen in Oh, Mary!, could join the cast as Ken.
