A website created by fans is reviving a popular feature from the Xbox 360, allowing players to send voice messages to each other again.
The website xboxchatting brings back the nostalgic sound of Xbox 360 voice chats. It perfectly mimics the compressed audio and distinct ‘mic quality’ that was characteristic of party chats and messages sent through the Xbox 360 in the late 2000s.
This feature reminds many players of the early days of online gaming, like after a match of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 or Halo 3, when quickly sending voice messages was a common habit. It added a fun, unpredictable element to online play, often leading to hilarious and strange interactions.
You can now enjoy a classic feature by sending friends voice messages – whether it’s playfully teasing their Halo skills or sharing a kind message.
Website recreates the mayhem of Xbox 360 voicemail
I can record up to 30 seconds of audio on this site, and then it gives me a link I can share. It’s awesome for sending quick voice clips to my friends on Discord, iMessage, or pretty much anywhere else I want!
You can respond to voice messages by tapping the message, selecting reply, recording your voice, and sending it back. The platform also offers personalization options like custom profile pictures and Gamertags, plus simple text messaging features.
The Xbox 360 used to let people send you voice messages, but Microsoft stopped offering that feature. I’ve recreated it as a website.

You can also tweak settings like compression, distortion, and background noise to intentionally make your recordings sound like they were made with a low-quality microphone – reminiscent of those often found at Walmart.
Although Microsoft no longer supports voice messaging, this fan-created website lets you relive the fun of the original Xbox 360 and experience the nostalgia that made it so special.
This highlights how fans are keeping classic console games and features alive. For example, someone recently created a way to play older Super Monkey Ball titles directly in a web browser, and another fan transformed Wikipedia articles into a unique card-collecting game.
