This weapon has a unique ability: it can fire both freezing and fire-based bullets. You can get it relatively early in the game from a character named Horace, who can be found at Horace’s Oversight.

5. G.M.R.

Okay, so the G.M.R. is definitely a step up in power from the other weapons I’ve been checking out, but it really shines when you’re fighting from a distance. What’s really cool is its special ability, ‘Big Name Hunter’. Basically, if you aim down the sights, the G.M.R.’s damage doubles – seriously! It makes a huge difference when you’re trying to take down tougher enemies.

You’ll probably end up using this weapon without aiming down the sights, which means you won’t fully utilize its special features. While it still packs a punch, that feature can actually make it harder to use effectively.

You’ll be able to find this weapon around the middle of the game by defeating Driller Hole. Fortunately, it has a fairly high drop rate, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to obtain.

4. Lucian’s Flank

Not Lucian’s Call

Fans of Borderlands 3 might recognize Lucian’s Call, which is back in Borderlands 4. It has a slightly updated appearance, but still offers the same powerful ability that players enjoyed before.

Lucian’s Flank has an incredibly fast firing speed, letting you quickly eliminate enemies. What really makes it special is its ability to regain ammo: every critical hit refills two bullets. If you consistently land critical hits, you can essentially fire endlessly, which is a huge advantage.

You can obtain this powerful weapon by repeatedly defeating the Meathead Riders in The Old Scrape. The effort is definitely worthwhile.

3. Bonnie and Clyde

Dynamic Duo

The Bonnie and Clyde, named after the famous outlaws, is a powerful assault rifle with a unique feature: an underbarrel shotgun. Its special ability, ‘Pair of Thieves,’ boosts the damage of the shotgun by 100% and automatically reloads the rifle’s magazine after each enemy takedown.

This gun has a bit of a learning curve because you’ll be switching between its firing modes frequently. After getting a kill with the main fire, switch to the underbarrel shotgun to activate a temporary boost. Then, switch back after a shotgun kill to boost that weapon instead. It sounds complicated, but mastering this weapon allows for consistent damage increases and effective enemy elimination.

You can obtain this weapon by repeatedly playing Directive-0 in the Terminus District. You’ll find Directive-0 inside the Iron Wall Resolve Bunker.
