A new action-adventure film starring Dwayne Johnson arrives in just a few days! With fans excited for the latest Jumanji movie, let’s take a look back at the 2017 reboot that relaunched the series.
Starting April 5th, you’ll be able to watch Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on Netflix. The movie, a sequel to the original Jumanji starring Robin Williams, has only been available for rent or purchase digitally until now, so many fans have been waiting for it to appear on a streaming service. While some people were unsure about the reboot when it came out in 2017, it ultimately proved to be a huge success, earning over $960 million worldwide and becoming one of the year’s biggest blockbusters.
With the recent addition of Welcome to the Jungle on Netflix, fans have a chance to revisit the Jumanji reboot series just before the final movie arrives in theaters. This timing allows audiences to get reacquainted with the story before the conclusion of the franchise.
It’s still surprisingly hard to find the 2019 movie, Jumanji: The Next Level, on streaming services. Unlike Welcome to the Jungle, it won’t be added to Netflix this month. If you want to watch the whole Jumanji series, you’ll need to rent or buy The Next Level digitally. It’s also available through a Philo subscription or for digital purchase.
What Should Audiences Expect From Jumanji 3?
I’m so excited for the next Jumanji movie! It’s coming out on December 25th, which is good because it avoids going up against those huge releases, Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three, the week before. It’ll wrap up the story that started with Welcome to the Jungle almost a decade ago, and I can’t wait to see how it all ends!
Details about the next Jumanji movie are scarce, but the last film, Jumanji: The Next Level, hinted at major problems. It seems some parts of the Jumanji game world have spilled over into the real world, and the heroes will likely have to team up for one last adventure to fix the chaos.
Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, and the other main stars from the last two Jumanji movies will be back for the third film. Several familiar supporting actors, like Nick Jonas, Danny DeVito, and Awkwafina, are also confirmed to return.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle arrives on Netflix on April 5.
