Be warned, this article contains spoilers for The Super Mario Bros. Movie! The new film, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, hits theaters this weekend, and details about the story are already appearing online. It’s a much larger adventure than the first movie, with Mario (Chris Pratt), Luigi (Charlie Day), Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy), and Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) blasting off into space to deal with trouble caused by Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie). The movie introduces popular characters like Yoshi (Donald Glover) and Rosalina (Brie Larson), and even features appearances from characters from other Nintendo games, such as Fox McCloud (Glen Powell) from Star Fox.
It feels like Nintendo is planning more movies based on the world of The Super Mario Galaxy, and a scene after the credits suggests this is true. In that scene, Fox McCloud and a Toad guard discuss Bowser Jr. and his father, Bowser (Jack Black), who are now in prison together. Lumalee, the cute and pessimistic Luma character from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, shows up as a surprisingly cruel prison guard – a role that seems perfectly suited for them.
Fox says farewell and sets off on his own journey. While Nintendo hasn’t officially announced a spin-off movie starring Fox McCloud, they’ve expressed interest in making more animated films regularly. Since they already cast Glen Powell as Fox, it seems likely we’ll see a dedicated Fox McCloud movie at some point.
What Happens in the Post-Credits Scene of ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’?

After the credits finish, there’s a short scene that revisits the Gateway Galaxy, showing Peach and Toad’s earlier meeting with Fox McCloud. In this scene, a Ukiki—a mischievous monkey first seen in the 1995 game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island—is once again trying to steal something. Princess Daisy stops them with a playful slap, just like she sometimes does in the Super Smash Bros. games. She doesn’t say anything during the scene.
Princess Daisy made her debut in the 1989 Game Boy game, Super Mario Land, where Mario rescued her – a common fate for princesses in the Mario world. Since then, she’s mostly appeared as part of the larger Mario cast in games like Mario Party, Mario Tennis, and Mario Kart. While she hasn’t often been the main character, Nintendo might have bigger plans for her now that they’re building a movie universe.
It’s so cool to remember that Daisy actually starred in the original Super Mario Bros. movie back in 1993 – Samantha Mathis played her! That means she was a major character on the big screen way before Princess Peach got her time to shine. I really think it’s time Daisy makes a comeback; she deserves it!
Nintendo’s next film will be a live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda, planned for release on May 7, 2027. Beyond that, Nintendo has many possibilities for future movies. The success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie will likely play a big role in what happens next. Even though critics haven’t loved it, the movie is expected to be a huge hit, meaning we’ll probably see more adventures with Mario, Fox, Daisy, and the rest of the gang in the future.
