How Do You Get Abyss Artifacts in Crimson Desert?
Overall, there are various ways to unlock Abyss Artifacts in Crimson Desert, including:
- Defeating A Certain Amount of Enemies (Repeatable)
- Acquiring Abyss Cressets
- Completing Sealed Artifact Challenges
- Completing Certain Main & Side Quests
- Exploring the World/Ancient Ruins
- Completing Abyss Island Puzzles
- Purchasing Artifacts from specific vendors
The easiest way to get Abyss Artifacts in Crimson Desert is by defeating monsters. As you defeat enemies, a yellow bar on the left side of your minimap will fill up. Once the bar is full, you’ll receive an Abyss Artifact, and you can keep repeating this process to earn more.
If you’re just starting out, I suggest completing the House Roberts questline up to the point where you need to defeat the Crimson Nightmare. Around the Nightmare’s camp, you’ll find enemies that keep reappearing. What I did was repeatedly fight these enemies until I either ran out of health or cleared them all out. Then, instead of fighting the Crimson Nightmare, I’d leave the area and return to make the enemies respawn, letting me fight them again.
This strategy isn’t limited to just one spot. After defeating the Reed Devil, the area he guarded will be filled with enemies that respawn frequently, making it a great place to practice and level up early in the game.
If you’d rather not spend hours farming, don’t worry! You can also discover Abyss Artifacts while exploring the open world. These artifacts are hidden throughout the land of Pywel, so keep an eye out as you explore.

The world of Pywel is filled with powerful items called Abyss Artifacts. You can find them in various ways: while exploring homes, purchasing them from vendors, or earning them as rewards for completing quests. You can check what a quest will reward you with in the pause menu’s Journal.
As a player, I’ve learned that Abyss Cressets and Abyss Nexuses both let you quickly travel around. But what’s really cool about Cressets is that they always have an Artifact hidden inside, so they’re definitely worth going out of your way to find!
Finding all the Artifacts isn’t always simple. Some are tucked away in Ancient Ruins, while others require you to solve puzzles. Be warned though – these puzzles aren’t always straightforward, so you might need to think creatively (or look up a solution online!). But the effort to find them is definitely worth it.
As you explore, you might discover special items called Sealed Abyss Artifacts. These artifacts take up space in your inventory, and you’ll need to complete a task to unlock their power.
Some challenges in the game are quite simple. For example, one asks you to block ten arrows with your shield – you can often do this quickly by simply holding down the block button in a bandit camp. However, other challenges are more difficult, might have time limits, or require you to use weapons you’re not familiar with.
