A robot designed to dance became an internet sensation after it unintentionally hit a child while performing in public. The incident happened during a demonstration and quickly spread online.
According to reports, on March 21st in Shaanxi province, China, a human-like robot was performing a planned dance for an audience when the incident occurred. The performance area was sectioned off for safety.
A video is circulating online showing a robot performing, spinning and kicking. During the demonstration, it unexpectedly moved towards the audience and hit a young boy in the face, quickly turning a fun show into a distressing incident.
Staff immediately tried to stop the machine, but the robot seemed to keep going with its programmed actions, even while they were holding it back, making the whole situation incredibly strange.
Robots have been causing mayhem all throughout March
The robot appears to be a Unitree G1, a humanoid model costing around $13,500. Weighing 77 pounds, it’s built for research, teaching, and business applications. It has sophisticated sensors and can move in many different ways, letting it do things like dance and pick up objects.
The clip quickly spread online, with viewers split between concern and dark humor.

I’ve been seeing a lot of talk about these humanoid robots being tested in public, and honestly, it’s a bit nerve-wracking. Some people are seriously wondering if they’re ready to be out on their own, and others are making jokes about robots taking over – starting with, like, bumping into us! But the thing that really stuck with me from all the comments was someone saying getting hit by one of these metal guys ‘really hurts.’ No kidding, right? It’s funny, but also…ouch.
I can’t believe this is happening again! Just a few weeks ago, I read about a robot at a Haidilao restaurant in San Jose totally going wild – it was dancing around and breaking plates, and several employees had to jump in to stop it. Now it’s happening again with another dancing robot causing trouble! It’s pretty crazy.
Okay, so this is crazy! Apparently, the police in Macau had to detain a robot – a humanoid one! – because it seriously scared an older woman during a protest. She got so frightened she actually had to go to the hospital. I mean, you don’t expect to get spooked by a robot at a demo, right?
Fortunately, these robots weren’t designed for battle, and things could have been much more dangerous. Last year, a Chinese company called EngineAi introduced its T800 humanoid robot and demonstrated its strength by actually kicking its CEO across the room.
