Be warned, minor spoilers ahead! After a 15-year break from horror directing, Sam Raimi returned with Send Help earlier this year, proving he still knows how to create suspense and fear. The film isn’t a typical supernatural horror like The Evil Dead; instead, it’s a gritty and realistic survival thriller with plenty of intense moments. To celebrate Send Help‘s digital release, we’re sharing an exclusive storyboard from one of the movie’s most shocking scenes – a scene that had to be cut. You can view the deleted scene below, and Send Help will be available on 4K Ultra HD and DVD on April 21st.

Sam Raimi first gained a dedicated fanbase through his horror films, including the Evil Dead trilogy and Darkman. However, in 2002, he truly impacted the film industry with Spider-Man.
Growing up, it felt like Superman and Batman owned the superhero movie world for ages. Then, movies like Blade and X-Men came along and showed everyone that Marvel characters could absolutely hold their own on the big screen too. Spider-Man was a huge hit – both with audiences and critics – and while it unfortunately inspired a lot of copycats, it also laid the groundwork for the massive Marvel Cinematic Universe we have today. Sam Raimi really nailed the tone, balancing genuine heart with spectacular action, and he brought those vibrant comic book characters to life in a way that just worked.

After finishing his Spider-Man films, Sam Raimi returned to his love of horror with Drag Me to Hell. This movie allowed him to explore the genre that first made him famous. He also worked again with Bruce Campbell – a frequent collaborator appearing in almost all of Raimi’s projects – to create the three-season television series Ash vs. Evil Dead.
It had been two decades since Sam Raimi directed a superhero film when he took over Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness from Scott Derrickson. However, that film prioritized being a Marvel movie over being truly scary. It wasn’t until Send Help that Raimi really showed he still excels at crafting compelling genre stories.

With a 93% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Send Help received some of the best reviews of Sam Raimi’s career. It also became his most financially successful horror film, earning $93.9 million worldwide. It’s unclear if this success will lead to more horror films directed by Raimi, but he remains involved in the Evil Dead franchise as a producer, including the new film, Evil Dead Burn.
