A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 Filming Wrap Month Revealed

Even as winter approaches, filming for the next season of HBO’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms – the Game of Thrones prequel – is now officially underway. Production is ramping up with cameras rolling and more actors joining the cast, and a firm schedule for Season 2 has been established.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 to wrap filming in June

Filming for the second season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is expected to finish in June 2026, which would allow for a potential release in 2027, according to Deadline. This schedule gives the production team plenty of time to complete visual effects and other post-production work, especially to create the detailed landscapes of the Reach.

Dexter Sol Ansell, who portrays the young squire Egg alongside Peter Claffey’s Ser Duncan the Tall, is currently filming his parts.

I’m excited to see ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ is really building out its cast for Season 2! They’ve added three fantastic actors to the mix. Lucy Boynton will be playing Lady Rohanne of Coldmoat, also known as the Red Widow, a character I’m already intrigued by. Babou Ceesay is joining as Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield, and the always-reliable Peter Mullan will be Ser Eustace Osgrey of Standfast. It sounds like they’re really fleshing out the world of the Reach, and I’m anticipating some great performances.

The upcoming season of the show is based on George R.R. Martin’s novella, The Sworn Sword. It follows the characters as they get involved in a local conflict during a dry summer in Westeros. Showrunner Ira Parker recently explained that the season will still have six episodes and a similar scope to previous seasons, despite rising costs. He noted that while the budget hasn’t changed, inflation has made everything more expensive.

He also shared that he’s really enjoying working on season two, describing it as a fresh take that he hopes viewers will love. Following the success of the first season, there’s already a lot of excitement building for the return of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
