I’m so excited that The Madison is finally here on Paramount+! And the best part? They’ve already approved a second season – even before the first one finished airing! Apparently, Taylor Sheridan, the brilliant mind behind Yellowstone, has already filmed it. I can’t wait to see more of Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn, the powerful woman at the center of it all. It’s going to be amazing!
The first three episodes of The Madison premiered on March 14th, with the remaining episodes released on March 21st. The first season follows Stacy as she travels to Montana’s Madison River Valley following the death of Preston Clyburn (played by Kurt Russell) in a plane crash. The season also sets up the story for what’s to come in Season 2.
What Happened in The Madison Season 1?
The series begins with the Clyburn family reeling from the sudden and tragic deaths of Preston and his brother, Paul, in a plane crash. The first episode and subsequent flashbacks then reveal the family’s life in New York City before the accident, highlighting the deep impact of Preston’s loss.
After Stacy travels to Montana to identify the bodies of her husband and brother-in-law, the family deals with the aftermath of the tragedy, offering a moving exploration of grief and how people support each other. At the same time, Stacy faces pressure from others to go back to her old life in New York.
Even though people expected Stacy to come back to New York City, she felt disconnected from her former life and instead went back to the ranch. It initially seemed like she had ended her own life, but it was revealed she simply wanted to be close to her husband’s grave following Preston’s funeral. This indicates that Clyburn will now make Montana his permanent home.
What Do We Know About The Madison Season 2?
Fans of The Madison, a show that offers a different feel from Taylor Sheridan’s popular Yellowstone, have more to look forward to. Paramount+ has already renewed the show for a second season, with plans for it to arrive in August 2025 – even before the first season has premiered. This unusual approach was driven by decisions made during casting.
To allow actor Brandon Russell to play Preston Clyburn, the show The Madison filmed scenes for both its first and second seasons before releasing the first season. The production schedule was adjusted to accommodate Russell’s availability, filming his scenes over two seasons. Because of this, The Madison is already ahead of schedule with Season 2.
The next season of The Madison will probably focus on Stacy as she adjusts to her new life. After considering a move between Montana and New York, she appears to have chosen Montana. Plus, with changes happening in her daughters’ lives, it looks like Stacy’s whole family might move there in Season 2 of The Madison.
Who Stars in Paramount+’s The Madison?
Michelle Pfeiffer and David Russell star in The Madison as Stacy and Preston Clyburn, the heads of the family. The actor appears in scenes showing the past. These flashbacks reveal Preston’s life in New York City with Stacy, as well as his trips to visit his brother at their family cabins.
Matthew Fox, known from Lost, plays Paul Clyburn, who is Preston’s brother and Stacy’s brother-in-law. Like the other brothers, he appears in scenes showing the past, revealing his life before he died. The cast of The Madison also includes other family members of Stacy and Preston, along with some of their neighbors and friends.
Beau Garrett and Elle Chapman star as Stacy’s grown daughters, Abigail Reese and Paige McIntosh. Paige is married to Russel, played by an actor whose name is not provided. Amiah Miller and Alaina Pollack portray Abby’s daughters, Bridgette and Macy Reese. Rounding out the cast, Kevin Zegers and Danielle Vasinova play Montana residents Cade and Kestrel Harris, and Ben Schnetzer appears as Sheriff’s Deputy Van Davis.
When Does The Madison Season 2 Premiere?
Although there’s no confirmed date yet, the second season of The Madison is currently expected to arrive in 2027. Some sources indicate it might even be released as early as 2026, but Paramount+ could also decide to wait and premiere it in the following year.
Elle Chapman, who plays Paige on The Madison, shared on Instagram in December 2025 that filming for Season 2 had finished (according to TV Insider). Her post, simply stating “And that’s a wrap on Season 2,” quietly confirmed that Season 2 is in production, though the show’s future beyond that remains unclear.
Sheridan has once again captivated viewers with a new, emotionally resonant story set in Montana, exploring themes more focused on women and inner lives than Yellowstone. However, a recent significant deal has left the future of The Madison – and several of his other series – uncertain, as Paramount+ will continue to own the rights to his shows.
