A new report from RationalFX (sounds fancy, right?) tracked 45,363 tech layoffs worldwide since January. Turns out, 20% of those cuts are because AI decided it could do your job better-and probably with fewer coffee breaks.

Block leads the pack with 4,000 layoffs. CEO Jack Dorsey claims it’s not about money-it’s about AI doing the heavy lifting. Or, you know, the light typing. The company’s shrinking faster than a cheap suit in the rain, from 10,000 to 6,000 employees.

WiseTech Global cut 2,000 roles, eBay axed 800, and Pinterest trimmed 675. It’s like a bad haircut, but for your career.

The question isn’t if AI will take your job-it’s already eyeing your desk. And for young workers, it’s as grim as a Brooks movie without a punchline.

ServiceNow CEO Bill McDermott dropped a bombshell on CNBC’s Squawk on the Street: entry-level jobs are vanishing faster than a Brooks joke at a serious meeting:

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York says recent grads had a 5.7% unemployment rate in 2025, with 42.5% underemployed. McDermott’s warning? That number’s about to skyrocket like a Brooks box office hit.

But fear not! Industry leaders say workers who buddy up with AI might just survive. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang spilled the beans at the Milken Institute:

Investor Naval Ravikant put it bluntly on X: it’s not about age, it’s about AI skills. Or, as Brooks would say, “It’s good to be the AI king!”

Workers with AI skills earn up to 56% more than those without, says PwC. So, if you’re not learning AI, you’re basically volunteering for the unemployment line.
