Fresh artwork from the new DC Universe reveals Sydney Sweeney as Power Girl battling Jason Momoa’s Lobo, giving fans a sneak peek before the release of Supergirl. James Gunn’s DCU has several highly anticipated projects planned for 2026. On television, HBO’s Lanterns will introduce two key human Green Lanterns, and on the big screen, we’ll see stories focusing on Gotham City with Clayface and a space adventure with Supergirl.
Milly Alcock, known for her role in House of the Dragon, will play Supergirl when the film arrives in 2025, marking her first appearance in the new DC Universe (DCU) alongside David Corenswet as Superman. Interestingly, Jason Momoa, who previously played Aquaman in the old DC movie universe, is joining the DCU as a different character: the bounty hunter Lobo. Fan art already imagines Lobo traveling between different DC universes with Momoa in the role.

Fans are excited about the idea of seeing Sweeney play Supergirl in a version of the DC universe that includes multiple realities. With the second season of Peacemaker introducing parallel worlds, this could happen in the Supergirl movie planned for 2026. Recent fan art shows Momoa’s Lobo getting hit hard, which makes sense considering how strong Power Girl is. The look of Lobo in the artwork is also consistent with what we’ve seen in the Supergirl trailers.
Will Power Girl Appear In The DCU’s Supergirl Movie?
As a DC fan, I’ve been checking out some amazing Power Girl art, and it really gets me thinking about what she could bring to the franchise. With Peacemaker season 2 opening the door for her to potentially show up in the Supergirl series – maybe even played by Sydney Sweeney, which would be awesome – I just don’t see James Gunn’s DCU going that route. Honestly, it feels like bringing Power Girl into Supergirl‘s story would distract from what they’re trying to build with her as the main focus.
This film is based on the Tom King comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and will offer a more somber and emotionally complex look at Supergirl, exploring the difficult experiences that have shaped her life. Introducing a version of Kara from another universe wouldn’t fit with the story’s focus on her personal journey and would detract from the character’s development.
Jason Momoa’s Lobo Should Fight Another Hero In The DC Movie
It makes more sense for Jason Momoa’s Lobo to fight Supergirl instead of Power Girl in the DC Universe. Currently, it’s unknown what role Lobo will play in the upcoming Supergirl movie. Interestingly, Lobo isn’t featured in the Woman of Tomorrow comics, which means the filmmakers have freedom to create his role without being tied to existing storylines.
The trailers for Supergirl feature Lobo among other bounty hunters following a fight with Supergirl. This suggests he might be hired to track either her or her friend, Ruthye, by the movie’s villain, Krem of the Yellow Hills. Though fans might enjoy seeing Lobo battle Power Girl later on, the Supergirl film should primarily focus on establishing Kara Zor-El within the DC Universe.
