Oscar Piastri had a hilarious reason for ignoring Brad Pitt on F1 movie set

Oscar Piastri met Brad Pitt while filming the Formula 1 movie last year, but he surprisingly didn’t say hello – and the reason is actually quite amusing.

If you paid close attention while watching F1: The Movie, you might have noticed appearances by several famous Formula One drivers.

Drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Carlos Sainz Jr. seemed to enjoy themselves and were part of the fun. Oscar Piastri, though, didn’t quite have the same experience.

Why Oscar Piastri didn’t speak to Brad Pitt on F1 movie

Even though Brad Pitt is a famous actor, driver Oscar Piastri didn’t seem interested in talking to him.

Piastri’s mother, Nicole, told the Herald Sun in Australia about a discussion she had with her son regarding a famous actor.

We recently watched the Formula 1 movie, but he didn’t say anything about it. It was surprising because there’s a scene where he’s actually standing next to Brad Pitt during the national anthem, lined up as a driver!

The next time I talked to him, I mentioned knowing he’d met Brad Pitt. He insisted he hadn’t, but I told him I’d actually seen them together – I saw Brad Pitt standing right next to him.

Oscar claims he didn’t say a word to Brad Pitt while they were filming the scene, and his mother revealed the funny reason why he completely ignored such a famous actor.

She said he asked, ‘What are you going to say to that old man?’ and added that fame hadn’t changed him at all.

Considering Brad Pitt is 62 and Oscar Piastri is only 24, they come from very different generations and likely didn’t have much common ground. Even so, it seems polite to at least try and start a conversation.

Piastri’s mum couldn’t stop him racing cars as a kid

During the same interview, Nicole Piastri talked about what Oscar Piastri was like as a child and how he always seemed destined for a career involving speed.

She explained it was inevitable. Despite her best efforts, with both grandparents and his father being car enthusiasts – his dad even owning a car tuning business – he developed a passion for cars at a very young age.

Even as a teenager, his mother tried to discourage him from pursuing racing, but he wouldn’t listen. She remembers being pressured by the school, who were funding his education, to find out where he was when he was instead spending his time go-karting.

All the hard work paid off. He now races for the McLaren-Mercedes team and has achieved nine wins throughout his Formula One career.
