Disney+ Announces Discounted Bundles One Week Ahead of Zootopia 2 Streaming Premiere

To celebrate the upcoming premiere of Zootopia 2 on Disney+, Disney is offering a special, limited-time discount on its streaming packages. The deal starts about a week before the animated movie becomes available on the service.

I was so excited to hear that Zootopia 2 is officially coming to Disney+ on March 11, 2026! Disney announced it through their official Disney+ channels, and I’ve already marked my calendar. Can’t wait!

Okay, so Disney+ and Hulu are running a pretty sweet deal right now. If you’re a new subscriber, or if you previously had a subscription and qualify, you can get both with ads for just $4.99 a month for the first three months. After that, it goes up to the normal price, but it’s a great way to check them both out or get back in if you’ve let your subscription lapse. As a movie and TV fan, I’m definitely considering it!

Disney stated that the offer remains available through March 24, 2026.

Streaming services frequently offer discounts when popular movies or shows become available. These deals attract new customers and encourage people who previously cancelled their subscriptions to sign up again. This particular offer is happening right before a well-known Disney animated film starts streaming.

Streaming Debut Follows Theatrical and Digital Releases

I was so excited when Zootopia 2 finally hit theaters on November 26, 2025! It’s a continuation of the first Zootopia movie, which Disney gave us back in 2016, and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next with Judy and Nick.

The movie revisits the world of Zootopia, following police officers Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they tackle a new case and continue to learn how to work together. This time, a puzzling new character, a reptile named Gary De’Snake, appears and throws the city into chaos, becoming the focus of their investigation.

Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman reprised their roles as Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, respectively. Joining them was Ke Huy Quan, who played the new character, Gary De’Snake. Jared Bush and Byron Howard, the directors of the first film, returned to direct this one as well.

After playing in theaters, the film was released for digital rental and purchase in late January 2026. Physical copies – Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K – followed on March 3, 2026.

As a huge movie fan, I was not surprised to see this film absolutely dominate the box office! It made around $426 million domestically, here in North America, but it was overseas where it really took off, earning over $1.4 billion. That brought the total worldwide gross to about $1.85 billion – a truly incredible number!

The film cost around $150 million to make, not including money spent on advertising. It was also critically acclaimed and won the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Feature during awards season.

Why Disney Offers Discounts Ahead of Major Releases

Okay, so here’s the thing: offering a deal on a streaming subscription right before a big movie drops feels a little weird, doesn’t it? I mean, normally, when everyone wants something, you’d think you’d charge more. It just goes against what you’d expect with basic economics – high demand usually means high prices.

Streaming services like Disney+ work differently than traditional movie theaters or buying DVDs. Disney makes most of its money from people paying a monthly subscription fee, rather than from individual movie tickets. They succeed when they attract new subscribers, win back old ones, and keep everyone subscribed for a long time.

Running a limited-time offer with a lower price can attract new subscribers right before a popular release like Zootopia 2. While some might cancel after the promotion ends, enough will stay subscribed to offset the initial discount for Disney. This strategy also encourages more people to watch other shows and movies on Disney+ and Hulu, leading to higher overall viewership during the first three months of the year.

This promotion is aimed at people who don’t currently subscribe to Disney+. This helps Disney earn extra money from new customers, while those who already pay for the service continue to do so at the regular price.

Bundled Streaming Plans Remain a Key Strategy

Disney is now focusing more on offering subscription packages that combine its streaming services. These packages typically include Disney+ along with other platforms like Hulu and ESPN+, giving customers access to everything with a single subscription.

The current deal highlights a combined Disney+ and Hulu plan that includes ads. While viewers will see commercials while watching, this option is cheaper, making it easier for people to sign up.

Offering bundles of streaming services is now a common practice in the industry. Companies use these packages to attract more subscribers to multiple services simultaneously, and also to stay competitive with other platforms that offer similar deals.

Disney has changed the prices for its streaming services a few times recently, impacting both individual subscriptions and packages that combine multiple services.

These price changes mean limited-time offers can attract new subscribers and even bring back those who previously canceled, if only for a little while.

The release of Zootopia 2 on Disney+ is a good example of Disney’s current approach. The movie became available for streaming a few months after playing in theaters and becoming available to purchase for home viewing.

If you missed seeing the movie in theaters, now you can watch it from the comfort of your home. Plus, a special offer bundling the movie with Disney’s streaming services might attract new subscribers before it expires on March 24, 2026.
