More characters revealed for Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered include Karulau and Touka

Aquaplus has added information to the official Japanese website for Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered (known in Japan as Shiro he no Michishirube – Guidepost to the White), revealing new characters that will appear in the game. They’ve also released a press release with details about the update.

Okay, so a lot of the characters they’ve shown off are actually returning faces, which is awesome! I recognize Karulau and Touka – they were in the original Utawarerumono trilogy, though that story actually happens after this game, which is kinda weird. And Shunya’s little buddy, Haru, the talking plushie, is back from Monochrome Mobius! I loved that game, so I’m super happy to see him again.

Both Haru and Touka are voiced by their original actors, Kentaro Tone and Kaya Miyake. Sadly, Karulau’s original voice actress, Atsuko Tanaka, passed away in 2024. As a result, Kikuko Inoue now provides the voice for Karulau in the new release, Past and Present Rediscovered.

This update introduces a new character named Fuyu, voiced by Yuka Keicho in the Japanese version. She’s a traveler who recites poetry as she journeys between countries. The developers hint that her poem might be known to characters like Oshtor. A screenshot also reveals that Fuyu recognizes the voice of Munechika.

Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered will launch in Japan on May 28th for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and PC (via Steam). Shiravune will release the English version for PC on Steam worldwide at the same time. The game will be available on Steam at 3:00 AM UTC (12:00 PM JST) on May 28th, which means players in North and South America can start playing it on the evening of May 27th due to the time difference.
