The Bear is ending with Season 5 and that’s a very good thing

Many people consider “The Bear” to be one of the best shows currently airing, but it will be ending after its fifth season.

Similar to the challenges Carmy and Syd face in running their restaurant, the show The Bear hasn’t been without its issues. While season 3 was criticized for being slow-paced and ending on a cliffhanger, it still excelled at showing how the characters grew and changed.

The fourth season of the Hulu show wrapped up last year with a sense of closure. Carmy understood he needed to distance himself to heal from his past, leaving Syd and Sugar to figure out the restaurant’s future.

The story isn’t over yet, and Season 5 will finish the storylines and character development for Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and the rest of the cast. However, this upcoming season will be the final one.

The Bear Season 5 will be the last

I just heard from a few places that The Bear is planning to end after season five, which honestly feels right. The storylines seem to be heading that way, and Jamie Lee Curtis actually hinted at it on Instagram a while back, so it wasn’t a huge shock!

I was so excited to see that on February 17th, she posted a picture with Abby Elliott from ‘Sugar’ on set! The caption said “FINISHED STRONG!” which makes me think they wrapped up filming something awesome. It’s great to see them together!

She also mentioned finishing the story of the wonderful family we’ve all grown to love, thanks to the incredible team of writers, producers, and actors Chris Storer brought together for the show.

Okay, so Curtis just cleared things up in a new interview with Access Hollywood – the show is definitely ending. Honestly, I don’t get why everyone is making such a fuss about it, but he seems a little confused by the reaction too!

I’m pretty confident everyone realized this was the final season, unless I start hearing from people saying I accidentally revealed something I shouldn’t have. If they’re upset, it means I really messed up.

Like most things in The Bear, the latest news is a mix of good and bad. While the show has given us incredibly well-developed characters, constantly having the restaurant on the verge of collapse isn’t sustainable.

Extending the show for five more seasons could weaken the powerful emotions and gripping storyline that made it so good initially. Generally, shows with a clear ending in mind produce more satisfying final episodes.

Honestly, as a fan of The Bear, I’m really hoping the show doesn’t just keep throwing in new problems for the characters to solve. It’d be great to see them actually move forward with their lives instead. Most fans I’ve talked to feel the same way – we want to see growth, not just endless drama.

One Reddit user expressed a preference for shows that plan a clear ending from the start, rather than leaving storylines unfinished just in case another season happens. They feel it’s better to aim for a satisfying conclusion than to create unnecessary cliffhangers.

One viewer said the first season was excellent and the second season really enriched the story. They felt Season 3 was a little uninspired, and they hadn’t even realized Season 4 had been released. After watching a few episodes of Season 4, they thought it was decent, but felt the show was repeating familiar storylines and had run its course.

One viewer commented that the storyline was fairly predictable, noting the previous two seasons focused on a character stuck in a cycle of depression, which was resolved at the end of the last season. They expressed enthusiasm for seeing how the story would conclude.

Fans are hoping the show’s final season includes some exciting developments, like Ebraheim “Ebra” (Edwin Lee Gibson) and his sandwich window receiving a Michelin star.

Someone enthusiastically agreed, saying, “This has to be the final outcome!” They explained they’d expected this storyline to conclude in Season 3, and were frustrated when it continued into Season 4, feeling like the delay was unnecessarily prolonging the tension.

Someone else just wants to see Sydney succeed, Carmy find peace and rediscover his passion for cooking, and Richie, Ebra, and Tina flourish and keep the restaurant going.

We don’t have a confirmed release date for Season 5 of The Bear yet, but since previous seasons have premiered in June each year, it’s likely the new season will arrive around the same time.

While we await further details, you can explore how Mikey’s character ended in the show, enjoy the fantastic music from Season 4, and check out our schedule for upcoming TV releases in 2026.
