Harrison Barnes, a key player for the San Antonio Spurs, unexpectedly ended his impressive streak of playing in 364 consecutive NBA games after suffering an unusual injury.
Before the San Antonio and Philadelphia 76ers game, Barnes was predicted to be in the starting lineup, as he’s been playing an average of 25 minutes per game this season.
I was so worried when I heard he was feeling a little pain later in the day! It turned out it was something really silly – he actually hurt himself while taking a nap. Can you believe it? The medics had to check him out, but thankfully it was nothing serious.
Harrison Barnes misses game due to injury from a nap
For the first time in three years, since his days with the Sacramento Kings, Harrison Barnes wasn’t playing in an NBA game.
The 33-year-old player had played in 364 games in a row, but that streak ended when he couldn’t play in Tuesday night’s game.
According to NBC News, the incident happened after player Barnes took a nap before the game and woke up feeling sore, according to coach Mitch Johnson.
Medical staff checked on Barnes after he mentioned feeling pain, but it’s currently unknown how long he’ll be sidelined.
Mikal Bridges’ record is safe
The Spurs had a great night, defeating the 76ers 131-91. This win secures their second-place position in the Western Conference, but surpassing the leading Oklahoma City Thunder will be a tough challenge.

Barnes’ streak of consecutive games played is over, ending a remarkable run. This also means Mikal Bridges now has the longest active streak in the league, having played in an incredible 616 games in a row.
As a fan, it’s amazing to see how consistent Harrison Barnes has been! He’s played in 382 games since 2021, which is right up there with Mikal Bridges’ incredible streak. I’m really hoping he recovers quickly and gets back to playing so he can keep adding to that impressive total!
