Viral baby monkey Punch has been turned into a video game

There’s now a video game where you can play as Punch, the viral baby monkey from Ichikawa Zoo.

A baby macaque monkey named Punch became an internet sensation thanks to adorable videos of him hugging an orangutan stuffed animal. But the reason behind his behavior is actually quite sad.

The little monkey was abandoned by his mother and turned to a stuffed animal for comfort. Sadly, other monkeys were also seen hurting and pulling him around, which worried a lot of people online.

Punch’s incredible story has even been turned into a video game called Zoo Fighter! In the game, players get to play as the young monkey and defend himself from those who pick on him.

You can now play a video game inspired by Punch

Zoo Fighter is a free online game created by Richie Branson, who previously worked on Fortnite. The game has a straightforward objective.

In this game, you control Punch and use mouse clicks to fend off attacking monkeys. Once you defeat 100 monkeys, Punch will reach a safe haven.

Just like in real life, Punch even carries his comfort orangutan plush with him in the game.

If you click the “Learn More” button, you’ll see the phrase “We’re screaming free Punch till it’s backwards!” The game is described as a tribute to animals living in zoos.

Animal sanctuaries generally provide a better life for primates than zoos do. This is because sanctuaries prioritize the animals’ health and happiness over attracting visitors. They offer more spacious and natural habitats, and focus on rescuing animals in need, rather than breeding new ones.

The note concluded by explaining the goal is to provide primates with a less stressful environment through ongoing care and reduced direct contact with humans.

People were concerned about how the older monkeys were bullying Punch at the zoo, but it seems he’s doing much better now. He even has a monkey who looks out for him, and IKEA sent him some stuffed animals!
