Trap House Is A Hidden Gem From 2025
A surprising hit on Netflix’s top 10 list is the action thriller Trap House. Made with a limited budget, the film didn’t get much attention when it first came out, but it’s found a new audience thanks to streaming.
Set in El Paso, Texas, “Trap House” follows a DEA agent who goes undercover with his partner, only to discover his own children are planning to rob a drug cartel. This unusual setup creates a lot of tension and dramatic moments between the family members.
The movie Trap House has received mixed reviews, currently holding a 52% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Although that’s not a particularly high score, many enjoyable films fall within that same range, so Trap House might be worth a watch.
The Cast Of Trap House Is Quietly Great
Even if the story doesn’t immediately grab you, the actors in Trap House definitely will. The film stars Dave Bautista, known for his range, as DEA agent Ray Seale. Playing his son, Cody, is Jack Champion, who you might recognize from Avatar: The Way of Water and Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Sophia Lillis, known for her roles in movies like Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, It, and All Her Fault, also stars and gives a compelling performance. She’s joined by experienced actors Bobby Cannavale and Tony Dalton, along with Kate del Castillo, Blu del Barrio, Inde Navarratte, and Whitney Peak.
It’s rare to see a movie made with such a small budget attract such a talented cast. Dave Bautista is arguably the best former wrestler turned actor, Bobby Cannavale has won an Emmy, and Kaitlyn Dever is a quickly rising star in Hollywood. This makes Trap House a surprisingly strong and under-the-radar film.
