Amazon apologizes after woman sent 100 packages despite not having an account

Amazon has said sorry to an 80-year-old after mistakenly sending them over 100 packages, even though they don’t have an Amazon account.

Most people receive Amazon packages almost every day. Those familiar brown boxes with the Prime logo can sometimes be a surprise for housemates who don’t know you’ve placed an order.

Pat Hurley, a 79-year-old woman from Elgin, Illinois, was surprised to receive over 100 Amazon packages, despite not having an account with the company. She first noticed the deliveries starting this summer, and none of the items were things she had ordered, she told ABC7 News.

The packages were delivered to her address, but they were addressed to people she didn’t know. When she asked her neighbors, none of them recognized the names on the packages either.

She explained to ABC7 News that the frequent deliveries were unsettling, particularly when she received about 20 packages in a single day.

Honestly, I was really starting to get worried. I’m disabled and was home alone, and with everything going on, it was just a bit nerve-wracking. You never really know what’s happening out there, do you?

So, on February 28th, the company finally apologized to me and my son, and thankfully, they took all those unwanted packages away from my house. It was a huge relief!

I just saw on ABC7 that Amazon is really trying to figure out what’s been going on with all those strange package deliveries. They’re investigating it and hoping to find a permanent fix so this doesn’t keep happening!

Amazon is facing criticism after revealing changes to its Wishlist feature. The update now allows third-party sellers to see users’ addresses, and Amazon is suggesting people use a PO box if they’re concerned about their privacy.

The new feature will launch on March 25th, and some content creators are encouraging people to stop using Amazon wishlists.
