The Pokémon Company has publicly addressed concerns after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security used the Pokémon theme song and characters in a widely shared video about immigration enforcement.
A video posted by the Department of Homeland Security on X (formerly Twitter) shows Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents making arrests, set to the theme song from the Pokémon anime. The video incorporates scenes from the anime and concludes by presenting people being deported as Pokémon trading cards. DHS captioned the post with the Pokémon slogan, “Gotta Catch ’Em All.”
The video spread rapidly online, and many people were quick to ask TPCi for a response.
Gotta Catch ‘Em All.

Pokemon responds after DHS uses theme song in viral video
Okay, so I just saw this news and it’s a little weird. Apparently, the Department of Homeland Security put out a video using Pokémon imagery, and The Pokémon Company wants everyone to know they had *nothing* to do with it! A spokesperson told TMZ they didn’t create the video, weren’t involved in sharing it, and definitely didn’t give anyone permission to use Pokémon in it. It’s good to know they’re setting the record straight!
Pokémon has not said whether it will take any further action, but clarified that it was not involved in the creation of the video and did not authorize its release.
The Pokémon Company is very protective of its brand and takes quick action against anyone using its characters or name without permission. They’ve previously stopped unauthorized fan-made games, products, and events.
A popular lawsuit involving Pokémon and Nintendo concerns the game Palworld, which came out in 2024 and shares noticeable similarities with the well-known monster-catching formula.
On September 24th, the Department of Homeland Security shared a video that used comedian Theo Von’s image, prompting him to publicly address the post.
