Shoreline Games, the publisher, and Metaphor Games, the developer, have revealed that their game, Celestial Return, will be released on PC (via Steam) on May 7th.
The latest trailer highlights the impactful decisions players will make in this story-driven RPG. It also shows how dice rolls and modifiers affect the outcome of those choices, determining success or failure. According to the developers at Metaphor Games, dice represent everything from combat power to persuasive arguments and even a character’s final moments.
Shoreline Games has released a new trailer, along with a description and screenshots, which you can find below. You can visit the official website here, and a demo is available now on the game’s Steam page.
Metaphor Games and Shoreline Games announced today that their narrative RPG, Celestial Return, will be released on PC via Steam on May 7, 2026. A new trailer unveiled during IGN Fan Fest showed off more of the game’s gameplay, which focuses on player choices and dice rolls.
In Celestial Return, you play as Detective Howard, investigating a series of disturbing murders in the shadowy, Lovecraftian city of Netherveil. Equipped with dice, a talking rose with a bit of an attitude, and a tarnished badge, you’ll navigate the city’s rain-slicked streets, but be warned: nothing is what it appears to be. The dead don’t stay buried, secrets refuse to stay hidden, and a dark corruption threatens to consume Netherveil.
I’m so excited! Metaphor Games isn’t just stopping at the game itself – they’ve launched a series of Webtoon comics for Celestial Return, and they’re amazing! They really flesh out the darker side of Netherveil City, and the art is incredible. It’s like a really cool mix of manga and American comic styles – totally unique. And the best part? Each new comic is coming out before the game launches and gives us little pieces of the story leading up to where we start playing. I can’t wait to see what happens!
If you’re interested in exploring the dark and dangerous city of Netherveil, a demo is now available on Steam. It offers about 45 minutes of story-driven gameplay, giving you a preview of the full adventure coming in May.
