A cat has been barred from school grounds after repeatedly entering classrooms and, reportedly, triggering an alarm over several months.
It’s become common for offices to have pets visit, with dogs and cats often coming in for a few days each week to boost employee morale. Sometimes, though, these animal visitors aren’t exactly welcome.
A friendly ginger tabby cat has taken up residence at the Cardonald campus of Clyde College in Glasgow, Scotland. Staff and students have affectionately named him Rebel, and he’s become a well-known and welcome sight around the building.
As of February 26th, the cat is no longer allowed on the property. Students and staff are asked not to feed it or encourage it to hang around the building.
Cat banned after months of walking into classes
So, apparently there’s this cat hanging around the college, and it’s become a bit of a legend. I heard it’s wandered into classes before, and even managed to trigger the security alarm at least once! It’s pretty funny, honestly.
The college is pleased with how welcoming and friendly its campuses are, but unfortunately, cats aren’t allowed inside the buildings, according to a spokesperson for STV.
I’ve heard from some students that they’d really love it if someone could build a little shelter for the cat near the school! They just want to be able to still see him and make sure he’s okay, and a little hut would be perfect.
Rebel isn’t the only animal to become popular online recently, and she’s not even the first Scottish cat to go viral. Back in January, a train worker in Scotland rescued and adopted a cat that had been left behind on a train.
A four-eared kitten named Dobby with an underbite is getting a lot of attention, and people are eager to adopt him. The seven-month-old has even appeared on TV, leading to many applications from potential owners.
He’s not as famous as Punch the monkey yet, as people online are still closely following his activities at the zoo and botanical garden in Ichikawa City, Japan.
