Pokemon Go Memories in Motion season guide: Dates, rotations, Shinies & more

The new Pokemon Go season, called Memories in Motion, is bringing some exciting updates to the game. Players can look forward to increased chances of finding Shiny Pokemon, a new Daily Discoveries feature, and lots of special events.

The latest update to Pokemon Go introduces a regular schedule of activities, like daily challenges and ongoing research tasks. Players will also have more opportunities to find Shiny Pokemon, including previously unavailable evolved forms appearing in the wild.

Niantic keeps players engaged with Pokémon GO by regularly updating the game with things like rotating Raid bosses, new Pokémon Eggs, Mythical Pokémon appearances, a fresh season of Go Battle League, and features like the GO Pass – giving players a reason to come back each month.

Check the season dates, events, tasks, juicy rewards, and all the details.

Pokemon Go Memories in Motion season: Dates & time

The Memories in Motion season will begin on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 10:00 AM local time and end on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 10:00 AM local time.

This update builds on the content from the previous ‘Precious Paths’ season, which introduced Nacli, Clobbopus, and their evolved forms, as well as Gigantamax Meowth and other additions.

Gigantamax Pikachu

Ever since the ‘Max Out’ season added Dynamax and Gigantamax forms to Pokémon Go, players have been seeing more Pokémon that can transform into these powerful versions.

For the first time ever in a Niantic game, players can find and battle Gigantamax Pikachu at Power Spots. If they win, they’ll have a chance to catch it!

Plus, Dynamax Regice and Dynamax Pikachu are joining the game, and we can expect even more additions in the future.

Pokemon debuts

This season celebrates 30 years of Pokémon, and the new Pokémon aren’t limited to one specific area. We’re excited to introduce Flittle, which evolves into Espathra, along with Dottler and Orbeetle.

Big returns

Popular Legendary Pokémon like Zacian, Zamazenta, Regieleki, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres will be appearing again in 5-Star Raids.

A new Special Research story, “Pressure Rising,” will be available to all Pokémon Trainers starting March 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time. If you complete the research, you’ll have a chance to catch the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion!

You can complete this Special Research whenever you want, as there’s no time limit. If you already received Volcanion during the Pokemon Go Fest 2025, you’ll receive Volcanion Candy as a reward instead.

More Shinies!

Beginning March 3, 2026, any evolved Pokémon you find in the wild will have the chance to be Shiny, but only if its Shiny form has already been released in Pokémon Go.

Trainers will find it easier to get Shiny Pokemon from Raids and Eggs than by finding them in the wild.

If you rescue a Pokémon from Team GO Rocket, it might be a Shiny Pokémon if it’s the first time that Pokémon has appeared in Shiny form. You’ll have a better chance of rescuing a Shiny Pokémon from the Team GO Rocket Leaders – Giovanni, Sierra, Arlo, and Cliff – than from regular Team GO Rocket Grunts.
