The upcoming season of Daredevil: Born Again will more closely reflect showrunner Dario Scadapane’s original plan. The first season faced challenges and required a significant overhaul, leading to a creative reboot during production. Instead of scrapping the initial footage, the show cleverly combined it with newly filmed scenes from a revised creative team.
Even though Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 is now on Disney+, getting it there required some concessions. Chris Scadapane discussed this in an interview with SFX magazine.
Scadapane described the first season as surprisingly enjoyable. The show took a new direction, becoming more like a traditional procedural drama centered around courtroom scenes. They ended up with a lot of footage and had to creatively piece it all together.
To improve the new season of Daredevil: Born Again, the creators essentially rebuilt it, starting with filming a completely new first episode and re-writing the finale. This strong start and finish helped them clearly define the show’s direction, allowing the story to flow more smoothly into Season 2, as explained by Scadapane. They wanted to establish a clear vision for what the show should be, and this approach allowed them to do that.
