On the show, Alex claimed he was drafted into Major League Soccer but sidelined by injuries. When his fiancée, Ashley Carpenter, mentioned Tim Howard, Alex casually said he’d met the goalie and found him “weird.” Howard’s daughter, a viewer of the show, brought the comment to her father’s attention.
On his podcast, Unfiltered Soccer, Howard stated he had reliable information for a fan and offered a solution: a public apology. He said if the fan apologizes on any platform, he’ll accept it, and things can be resolved. Otherwise, he implied he’ll share further criticisms. He concluded by saying he’d leave it at that for now.
Landon Donovan, Howard’s co-host, was quick to criticize Alex Henderson’s attempts to impress a woman. Henderson had tried to do so by making fun of Tim Howard and claiming David Beckham wasn’t a good player. Donovan responded by telling Henderson to work on his flirting skills, calling his approach ridiculous and disrespectful.
