Popular Twitch streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel is enthusiastic about the new Overwatch Rush game, but he worries about how long it will stay popular.
On February 24th, Blizzard announced they’re working on a new Overwatch game for fans, called Overwatch Rush. It’s not just a new way to play the existing game—it’s a completely new game designed for mobile devices.
Overwatch Rush is a mobile game that’s different from other Overwatch games because it’s played from a bird’s-eye view instead of the usual third-person perspective. Blizzard has stated that the game is still early in development and requires significant further work.
The announcement of the new game has already caused a divide among Overwatch fans, and streamer xQc is among those with reservations, as he has a major worry about it.
xQc worried about Overwatch Rush’s replayability
While watching the reveal of Overwatch Rush on February 24th, the former Overwatch League player thought it looked fun, but wondered if it would hold players’ attention for very long.
“Chat, this actually looks kind of decent, though. Chat, I don’t think this looks bad,” xQc said.
Okay, this looks pretty cool, but I’m a little worried about how much I’ll actually get out of it. I’m not sure how much replay value it has, you know? It seems like it’d be fun for a few rounds, but I’m wondering if it’ll hold my attention long-term. Anyone else feeling that?
Lengyel agreed that removing heroes from Overwatch would be a good thing, and specifically noted he hadn’t seen Brigitte played much recently.
He joked that the game was being updated to remove some problematic characters and return to its original style. He specifically said Brigitte had a negative impact, essentially ‘breaking’ the game with her abilities.
Blizzard has mentioned that the game is still in the early stages of development, so it will take a while before all the characters are playable. We’ll need to be patient and see how it progresses.
