The next update for Honkai Star Rail, version 4.1, is arriving next month and promises to be significant for players following the Planarcadia story. Expected in late March, the update will introduce a new five-star character named Ashveil, along with the return of existing characters through special banners.

Like past updates, we’ll only have a short time to get the new characters and their special Light Cones when they become available. Here’s what we know so far about the Honkai Star Rail 4.1 banner schedule, including when it’s coming out, who the new characters are, and which characters might return.

Honkai Star Rail 4.1 Release Date and Banners

The next major update for Honkai Star Rail, version 4.1, is likely to arrive around March 24th, 2026, for players in North America. Players in Europe and Asia should receive the update on March 25th, 2026. Based on the typical release schedule from HoYoverse, the update is expected to launch during the last week of March.

Most Honkai: Star Rail updates (patches) typically run for around six weeks, but Version 4.1 will be shorter, lasting just four weeks. Within that time, it will follow the standard banner format with two phases.

Phase 1 (Expected: March 24/26 to April 8/9, 2026)

The first part of the update will likely focus on the new five-star character, Ashveil. Players can expect his character banner to be available, along with a rerun banner featuring a five-star character that’s been released before. Ashveil’s special Light Cone will also be available during this phase.

Phase 2 (Expected: April 8/9 to April 21/22, 2026)

The next phase of updates will likely feature reruns of popular characters. Leaks and past trends suggest we might see Cyrene and Boothill return with their special Light Cones.

Like before, each banner event will increase your chances of getting specific four-star characters and Light Cones. If you’re hoping to add a certain four-star character to your team, this is a great opportunity to try and get them!

Ashveil and Other Expected Characters in 4.1

The biggest addition in Version 4.1 is Ashveil, a new five-star character you’ll be able to play. He uses Lightning powers and follows the Path of The Hunt, so he’s likely to be very effective at dealing damage to single enemies.

Hoyo’s marketing materials reveal Ashveil as a top detective who works for the Ashen Detective Agency. He’s famous for cracking all kinds of cases, whether they’re simple puzzles or high-stakes investigations across the galaxy.

Currently, Ashveil is the only new character officially announced for Version 4.1, and he’s expected to be central to the story. His character banner will likely be the main event of the update, alongside the return of popular characters and brand new Light Cones.

Besides Ashveil, the 4.1 update could introduce a new character called Pearl. However, the game developers haven’t officially announced when she’ll be available or when her special banner will appear.
