February 27 will be an excellent day for fans worldwide, especially for OG Charizard fans.

Building on past successes, eBay is excited to celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of Nintendo’s most popular game series again.

Both new and dedicated Pokémon fans will have the opportunity to buy rare gaming collectibles at their original prices. For example, a 1996 Japanese Charizard card will be available to bid on starting at just $2.99.

According to Adam Ireland, Vice President and General Manager of Global Collectibles at eBay, eBay has been the primary place to find rare and highly sought-after Pokémon items for the past three decades, and interest in Pokémon continues to increase.

The ’30/30 Collection’ celebrates 30 years of Pokémon with a special event on eBay Live. You’ll find unique Pokémon items available only on eBay, and the live shopping format lets fans connect and collect together, just like the Pokémon community does today.

Pokémon is a hugely popular item on eBay, consistently ranking as one of the most searched-for categories. In 2025, people searched for Pokémon over 360 times every minute! With Nintendo planning big things for the franchise, those numbers are expected to climb even higher in 2026.

The special 30/30 Pokémon collection will be sold through an eBay livestream auction on February 27, 2026, starting at 3:00 PM Pacific Time / 6:00 PM Eastern Time. eBay Live will also host a weekend full of Pokémon content, connecting collectors and sellers live.

Highlights from eBay’s upcoming Pokémon collection include:

  • 2021 Seiko SBPY162 Pokémon Special Model Blastoise Limited to 700 Pieces: This limited-edition Seiko taps into nostalgia for Blastoise – with searches for the Pokémon surging by 50% compared to 2024, the icon’s appeal extended beyond trading cards in 2025.
  • 2023 Pokémon x Van Gogh SVP Black Star Promo #085 Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat PSA 10: This fine art-inspired grail continues to see enduring demand on the marketplace, with eBay users searching for the card 70 times per hour in 2025.
  • Additional items from across the franchise’s 30-year history will be featured during the auction.

Pokémon fans can celebrate Pokémon Day in person on February 27th in New York City! It’s part of eBay Live on Tour, a series of events for collectors happening across the US. The event will be held at The Standard Biergarten (848 Washington St, New York, NY) from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Time.

Guests can enjoy trading tables, card grading services, fun activities with chances to win prizes and discounts, demonstrations of TCGplayer, and live events all day long.
