BOOM! Studios has announced the release of BRZRKR: LIGHT DRAWS BREATH #1, and shared a preview hinting at a deeper look into the story of the character known as B.

It won’t last, I’m guessing, but the story is that way back in the Bronze Age, these two seriously unconventional scientists managed to grab a little piece of him – before he could completely rebuild himself. It needs to discover its own identity, understand its abilities, find its place in the world, and defend itself against those who want to dominate it.
BOOM! Studios hints that the story will blend actual historical people and events with the hidden world of alchemy. This particular issue happens earlier in the timeline than most of the main BRZRKR comic, which primarily takes place in the present day (early 2020s), though the series does feature many flashbacks covering the character’s incredibly long 80,000-year life.
Essentially, Light Draws Breath feels like a detailed flashback, offering fans a complete look at a significant period in B’s life before his time with the U.S. military. The one-shot story is described as both darkly humorous and deeply moving, exploring the complexities of the human experience.
