Popular Twitch streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel praised VTuber concerts, stating they’re superior to many other musical performances because he believes the VTubers genuinely sing live, unlike some artists who lip-sync.
Beyond playing games, many popular VTubers are also making music, writing their own songs and putting on concerts for their fans. Ironmouse, Nana Asteria, and Mori Calliope are just a few examples of those who have expanded into music.
Some VTubers have extended their performances beyond online streaming, holding live concerts that have drawn large crowds. These shows are particularly impressive due to the creative ways VTubers visually represent their virtual characters for a live audience.
Many people have criticized fans for going to VTuber shows, and some have even suggested the performances aren’t live, but rather pre-recorded. However, xQc has spoken out to support these virtual concerts.
xQc compares live VTuber concerts to esports
A Canadian streamer, after seeing a video of Hoshimachi Suisei’s concert at Yokohama’s K-Arena, stated that some VTuber concerts are actually better than those of traditional bands and musicians, focusing on the quality of the live performance itself.
xQc stated that if people are having fun and want to perform, they should go for it. He argued that it’s no different than any other concert, pointing out that most concerts involve performers going through the motions, whether it’s lip-syncing or simply putting on a show.
Honestly, this feels less like a serious concert and more like a playful performance – they’re clearly enjoying themselves.

The ex-Overwatch player explained he wasn’t a fan of the new music, saying he disliked the “disco sounds.” He simply stated it wasn’t his style and he couldn’t support it.
xQc added that he does “like” some of Hatsune Miku’s music, pointing out the differences for fans.
He pointed out the similarity to esports, saying, “It’s funny how people criticize this, but then they happily watch esports competitions. It’s all about watching characters and heroes, and honestly, it’s even more removed from reality than watching VTubers because there isn’t a real person behind the gamer.”
