Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, addressed why his most recent YouTube video didn’t do as well as his others, admitting he’d anticipated it might not be a big hit.
In addition to his popular and elaborate YouTube videos, MrBeast is also recognized for his charitable efforts. He runs a dedicated YouTube channel, MrBeast Philanthropy, and directs all the earnings from that channel towards funding more charitable projects.
Look, I get why some people were upset about me putting my tutorials behind a paywall, but honestly, creating those videos takes a ton of work, and the money helps me keep doing it. I’m still happy to help people out, even if those more in-depth guides don’t get as many views as my regular gameplay stuff. It’s just about balancing things, you know?
On February 15th, he shared that he expected his upcoming video – about building schools in ten countries – to be his least successful in years.
MrBeast even predicted his “worst performing” YouTube video
The video was released on February 21st, but it didn’t get as many views in the first 24 hours as his other videos usually do.
Donaldson shared the video’s early performance statistics on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, saying it met his expectations.
It doesn’t really matter, I absolutely loved making this video – it’s actually one of my favorites! It feels strange creating content I know won’t do as well as my other videos, but I don’t care if it gets few views. My main goal is just to help people who need it.
This is pretty much how I expected it to do 😭. But honestly, I absolutely loved making this video – it’s quickly become one of my favorites. It feels strange creating content I know won’t do as well over time, but I don’t care if it gets few views. My main goal is to help people who need it.

Currently, MrBeast’s latest video has already been viewed over 27 million times, which is significantly more than his recent videos usually get. His previous video, a race for $250,000 involving people aged 1 to 100, has earned over 66 million views.
Even when added together, those numbers are still lower than the average of 100 million views his previous videos received.
Donaldson plans to continue making videos for charity, even if they don’t get as many views. In a post accompanying one of his videos, he explained that he’s saddened by the fact that over 200 million children lack access to safe education, and he hopes his work will encourage others to support children’s learning worldwide.
