Hideki Kamiya, the former director of Resident Evil, has strongly condemned the people leaking spoilers for the upcoming game, Resident Evil Requiem, stating they deserve severe punishment.
These comments from Kamiya follow Capcom’s efforts to stop story details and gameplay footage from leaking online before the game is released. Leaks about the game’s story and ending have already appeared.
On February 20th, Capcom asked fans to avoid spreading leaked information about the upcoming game, Resident Evil Requiem, saying, “Please don’t share any spoilers or leaks before the game is released.”
I was pretty frustrated to hear they’re still sending takedown notices for leaks – they said it’s to keep the game a surprise for when it actually launches, which I get, but it’s annoying. Then, Hideki Kamiya himself went on X and really called out the leakers. That post blew up, and honestly, I can see why he’s so upset!
Kamiya slams Resident Evil Requiem leakers
Kamiya expressed disappointment, saying people are being inconsiderate and hurting both the users who are excited about the project and the creators who worked hard on it.
This is a truly awful act that ruins people’s lives, and the person responsible deserves severe punishment. May they never be able to enjoy games again.
It feels like the ending of Biohazard 2 was also spoiled in a weekly magazine… This is a truly disgusting act – ruining the experience for fans and disrespecting the hard work of the creators, all for your own selfish enjoyment. You deserve the worst possible punishment, and I hope you’re never able to enjoy games again!
