What does Link’s group want in Paradise Season 2? New faction explained

The second season of Paradise starts off surprisingly with a brand new set of characters. We’re immediately introduced to Link’s group – but who are they, and what are their goals?

The popular show Paradise is back on Hulu, nearly a year after its first season finale. The previous season ended with a shocking twist: President Bradford (played by James Marsden) was murdered by one of the workers who constructed the underground bunker.

After hearing his wife, Teri, on the radio – proving some people survived the disaster – Special Agent Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown) ventures out from the secure bunker to find her.

Fans might expect to see Collins back quickly, but the start of Paradise Season 2 introduces new characters: Annie, a Graceland tour guide played by Shailene Woodley, and Link, a survivor played by Thomas Doherty. The first episode focuses on these new faces, and raises the question of who Link is and what his group’s intentions are. Be warned, spoilers follow…

What do Link’s group want in Paradise Season 2?

Link and his team are journeying across the country to safely shut down all nuclear power plants. They’re trying to prevent disasters, like meltdowns, that could further devastate the United States, especially after a massive volcanic eruption in Antarctica triggered a huge tsunami and caused global temperatures to drop by 20 degrees due to widespread ash in the air.

Link’s friend, Geiger, told Annie that immediately after the disaster, he understood the situation could become even more dangerous. He was trying to gather a team to safely shut down all of the country’s 94 nuclear power plants, explaining that if left unattended, they were all at risk of meltdown.

If there was any doubt about what he was planning, he’s even wearing a patch depicting a nuclear explosion on his vest. When Link and the other survivors appear at the beginning of Paradise Season 2, it initially seems like they’re targeting Annie at Graceland for something sinister.

It turns out they mean well, at least for the time being. They just want to look over Elvis’ cars to see if they can find any useful supplies or parts to help them continue their journey.

But a larger puzzle is unfolding, as Annie unexpectedly hears Geiger tell Link they must enter the bunker to “kill Alex.” It’s unknown who Alex is and what motivates Geiger’s desire to eliminate them.

Since the episode concludes with Annie locating Xavier after his plane goes down close by, it won’t be long before Link’s group and the bunker’s inhabitants are headed for a confrontation.
