The recent tournament, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, just finished with a lot of excitement. Here’s a recap of what happened and what it all signifies.
Okay, so they’ve made a Game of Thrones game where you play as a knight, and honestly, it’s a really cool twist on the whole story! It feels fresh and takes the franchise in a direction I wasn’t expecting, but I’m totally digging it.
Instead of sweeping storylines, the show now closely follows just a couple of characters, telling a more personal story in shorter installments, giving viewers a fresh perspective on the world of Westeros.
After the heartbreaking death at the end of Episode 5, Episode 6 focuses on how the characters are coping with the loss, delivering a powerfully emotional experience.
The death of Prince Baelor

Episode 6 is heavily impacted by the death of Prince Baelor in the previous episode. Characters grapple with feelings of guilt, anger, and sadness, and these emotions are likely to cause significant problems down the line.
Dunk is confused and upset that Baelor was captured instead of him. He feels like he brings misfortune to everyone around him, leaving a path of hardship wherever he goes.
Maekar is clearly haunted by his brother’s death, but he deflects his own guilt by blaming Ser Duncan, suggesting future generations will hold Duncan responsible for the loss of a potentially great king.
However, Dunk suggests Baelor’s sacrifice might still have a purpose, hinting that the realm could require his help in the future.
Do Dunk and Egg reconnect at the end of Episode 6?

Yes, Dunk and Egg reunite at the end of the final episode, but they take a complicated route there.
The trouble between Dunk and Egg started when Egg confessed he was actually Prince Aegon, which Dunk felt was a betrayal. However, Egg is supporting Dunk during the Trial of Seven in Episode 5, and it’s obvious Ser Duncan still has strong feelings for the boy.
In Episode 6, Maekar asks Dunk to train him again, but Dunk initially declines, feeling he’s finished with teaching princes. He later agrees, but only if they leave the Targaryen castles and court behind. However, Maekar won’t allow it, insisting his son won’t live a life of poverty.
Just as Ser Duncan was about to leave, a young boy named Egg ran after him, explaining that his father had instructed him to become Ser Duncan’s squire.
Dunk is happy to hear Egg is coming back, unaware that Egg has actually run off again. This has made Maekar furious, and he’s almost certainly determined to find Prince Aegon.
A major revelation about Ser Duncan

Episode 6 includes a quick flashback showing Dunk talking to his mentor, Ser Arlan, right before Ser Arlan died.
Arlan shares the story of how he got his name – the legend of the Penny Tree. As the story concludes, Dunk curiously asks Arlan why he was never made a knight.
So, Duncan the Tall wasn’t actually a knight—he’s been pretending to be one all season, which makes sense of his constant insecurity.
As for the “why,” Arlan dies before answering said question, so that too is hanging over Dunk.
The future of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

I’m so excited to hear that Season 2 is officially happening! They’re going to base it on the second ‘Dunk and Egg’ novella, ‘The Sworn Sword,’ which I think is a fantastic choice. I can’t wait to see that story come to life on screen!
The final scene of Episode 6 hints at the start of their next adventure: Egg suggests they travel to Dorne, specifically to the Red Mountains, because Dunk is eager to see Tanselle, for whom he has feelings.
If Season 2 starts shortly after the first season ends, we can likely expect the story to begin in Dorne, with Maekar possibly pursuing Dunk and Egg.
