Rate My Takeaway host quits channel over ownership dispute

Danny Malin, known for his role as the host on the well-liked YouTube food review channel “Rate My Takeaway,” recently shared that he has parted ways with the company due to disagreements regarding who owns the channel.

In a playful, uplifting manner, Malin initiated the channel to highlight nearby eateries offering food delivery services in the UK amidst lockdowns during the 2020 pandemic, aiming to add joy while restaurants remained closed and people stayed at home.

The unusual method of ordering takeout and eating it at his own portable table and chair, set up outdoors, resonated strongly on the internet. Regardless of whether it was raining or sunny, Danny’s fatherly humor transformed the channel into a viral sensation, amassing millions of views and almost 750,000 subscribers within five years.

As a recognized gamer in the gaming community, particularly within the UK, I felt it was time for a change. On September 6th, I shared a video on my Mr and Mrs Yorkshire channel titled “Why I’m Leaving Rate My Takeaway”. It wasn’t an easy decision, but I feel this step will open new doors for me in the gaming world.

Danny Malin says legal action “on the way”

In the nine-minute clip, it seemed clear that Malin suggested he wasn’t a full stakeholder in Rate My Takeaway, indicating his departure was mainly due to issues with his camera operator and video editor.

Since the beginning, I’ve maintained that we are a team of three and we should share responsibilities evenly. However, it has been challenging for me from day one to uphold this principle, as there have been circumstances preventing me from getting access to certain resources or performing specific tasks.

Malin implied that the aftermath might not be fully resolved yet, suggesting a potential future lawsuit related to the disagreement. He stated to his audience, ‘I’m limited in what I can disclose… as I anticipate a legal proceeding will occur.’

Despite this situation, he was eager to express his gratitude towards his fans, referring to their support as “incredibly fantastic” and acknowledging the channel’s community for transforming his life. In his own words, “I can’t thank you enough from deep within my heart for all your support, the heartwarming messages, our encounters on the street, and the joyous moments we’ve shared. It has truly been extraordinary.

Although his tenure at Rate My Takeaway seems to have concluded, Danny assures fans that he’s not disappearing entirely. He intends to carry on generating content on the Mr and Mrs Yorkshire channel and suggested potential food ventures in the near future. In his own words, “I enjoy making content… it simply needs to transform.
