A recent video from the set of their new horror movie, The Dreadful, shows Sophie Turner and Kit Harington making funny faces after sharing a kiss. It’s a humorous moment, especially considering they played on-screen siblings for years on Game of Thrones and are now portraying lovers.
Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington and Sophie Turner gag after kissing
A clip from Entertainment Tonight shows Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, acting as their characters Anne and Jago, sharing a romantic kiss. The scene feels like something from a historical drama, but the director, Natasha Kermani, quickly calls “Cut!” Kit Harington immediately pretends to be sick, and Sophie Turner joins in, making the crew laugh.
The slightly strange dynamic between the actors comes from their time playing family members on the popular HBO show, Game of Thrones. Sophie Turner and Kit Harington both starred in all eight seasons of the series, which finished in 2019 – she as Sansa Stark and he as her half-brother and cousin, Jon Snow.
Turner and Harington are teaming up again, this time as lovers in the gothic horror film The Dreadful. Set in 15th-century England during the War of the Roses, the movie follows Anne (Turner), who finds herself falling for Jago (Harington) after her husband dies in battle. She must navigate this secret relationship while also dealing with her overbearing mother-in-law and a strange curse.
Both actors were clearly uncomfortable with the show’s sudden shift in focus. Sophie Turner described filming romantic scenes as disgusting, even joking that she and her co-star, who also happens to be her brother, were both feeling sick during those moments. She remembered reading the script and seeing a repetitive cycle of kissing and sex scenes, realizing with dismay that she’d be performing these scenes with her own brother.
Harington admitted it was a little awkward having to stand on a box to kiss his co-star, as she’s about a foot taller than him. Otherwise, he said he felt his pride remained intact, as he told E! News in November 2025.
Despite everything, the movie The Dreadful, featuring Laurence O’Fuarain, Marcia Gay Harden, and Jonathan Howard, will premiere in cinemas on February 20, 2026.
