Ned Stark Officially Returning This Summer In New Game Of Thrones Adaptation From GRRM

This summer, Ned Stark will be back in a new version of Game of Thrones, created by George R.R. Martin.

HBO’s fantasy series, which began in 2011, is based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels. The show initially focused on Ned Stark, but his unexpected death at the end of the first season changed everything. Since then, Game of Thrones has become incredibly popular, spawning spin-offs like House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, with more new shows currently in the works.

According to Deadline, the world of Game of Thrones is coming to the stage with a new play called Game of Thrones: The Mad King. Performances will begin this summer at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, and tickets will be available for purchase in April. Duncan Macmillan wrote the play, and Dominic Cooke is directing it.

Game of Thrones: The Mad King is a new stage play set 15 years before the events of the TV series, during the Tourney at Harrenhal. Familiar characters like Ned Stark, Robert Baratheon, Lynna Stark, Jamie Lannister, and Varys will be reprising their roles, and the show is currently being cast.

The tournament held at Harrenhal is widely seen as the event that sparked Robert’s Rebellion. This uprising ultimately brought an end to the Targaryen dynasty and led to Robert Baratheon becoming king.
