Markiplier kicked off 2026 with a splash by bringing his popular indie horror film, Iron Lung, to cinemas. If you’ve been hoping to see the video game version online, here’s the latest: there’s both good news and bad news.
Iron Lung showed strong potential for success even before its release. Due to high demand from fans, major cinema chains like AMC, Cinemark, and Regal decided to distribute the film, and it was also released internationally through Cineworld in the UK.
The new movie quickly became a hit, selling out showings within minutes of release. Since its debut in late January, it’s earned over $44 million worldwide, an impressive return on its small $3 million production cost.
What’s especially remarkable is that Iron Lung was entirely created by Mark Fischbach, better known as Markiplier – he wrote, directed, produced, edited, and funded it himself, revealing the project in 2023. This independent creation makes it harder to forecast how well the game will perform on streaming platforms.
Will Iron Lung be on streaming?
Great news! The movie Iron Lung will be available to stream. However, we don’t have a specific date for when it will be released on streaming platforms yet.
Unlike typical blockbuster movies, Iron Lung wasn’t made by a major film studio. Studios like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Plus, and HBO Max usually have deals in place to distribute their films, but Iron Lung didn’t have that kind of backing.
Because the film isn’t backed by a major studio, it doesn’t have a guaranteed place on any particular streaming service. A streaming release will happen only if a distribution deal is made, and details about that haven’t been revealed yet.
So, I was super stoked to see Iron Lung hit number one at the US box office! Markiplier mentioned in a recent YouTube video that they’re still working on getting it available for us to play at home, which is awesome news.
“The whole translation thing, it’s going to take some doing. I have some plans underway.”

I’m so excited to hear that the movie, based on the indie game Dread Delusion, is going to be available digitally! That means I’ll be able to watch it whenever I want through streaming services like Prime Video – no need to buy a physical copy!
Similar to how most films are released, this project will probably become available on streaming services eventually. It’s unclear if Markiplier will partner with a major platform like Netflix or Hulu, or if he’ll release it directly on his YouTube channel.
He’s currently learning the necessary systems and will be getting help along the way, so progress is being made.
We’re handling everything ourselves, from beginning to end, and I think that’s great. This project will remain completely independent throughout.
How to watch it now

As of February 17, 2026, the only way to watch Iron Lung right now is in movie theaters.
The horror movie was initially planned for a small release, but because it became so popular and fans asked for more, it’s now playing in more theaters since earlier this month.
Despite predictions that the film’s success would fade after Valentine’s Day weekend, it’s still playing in theaters across the US.
To watch Iron Lung, either in theaters or for a second viewing, visit the official website’s ‘Buy Tickets’ page, or check sites like Fandango or Atom Tickets. Just enter your location to find showtimes near you.
Or, you can check directly with your favorite movie theater to see if they’re showing it near you.
Markiplier promises DVD & Blu-ray release

Markiplier announced that, in addition to becoming available on streaming services, Iron Lung will soon be released on DVD and Blu-ray.
This news follows a growing preference for physical media like DVDs and Blu-rays. More and more TV and movie fans are choosing to own copies rather than rely on potentially unreliable digital access.
Also, physical copies of movies, like DVDs and Blu-rays, often include bonus content such as director’s notes, making-of videos, removed scenes, and special packaging that collectors will appreciate.
Markiplier is celebrating the success of his film, ‘IRON LUNG,’ calling it a victory for creators on YouTube. He’s been thrilled with the positive reaction, saying he’s been watching a lot of people’s responses lately. (Source: BBC)

Markiplier announced during his livestream that plans are in motion to release Iron Lung on DVD, Blu-ray, and as a digital purchase or rental option. He confirmed that work on making this happen is already being done.
There’s still no confirmed release date for a physical copy of Iron Lung on DVD or Blu-ray, but the developers have confirmed it is planned. We’ll share any new information as soon as we get it.
While we wait for more news, I’ve been checking out some seriously creepy movies similar to Iron Lung – totally recommend! I’m also keeping an eye on the horror films coming out in 2026 that I’m hyped for, and browsing what fresh flicks are available to stream this month. Gotta keep the spooky vibes going!
