A new report shares details about what Thor and Captain America (Steve Rogers) will be doing in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie. It seems they’ll be on a separate mission involving a character we’ve seen before from across the multiverse.
Avengers: Doomsday to send Thor and Steve on a mission
A recent report suggests that Thor and Captain America will embark on a separate adventure in Avengers: Doomsday focused on locating Loki and the Time Variance Authority (TVA). According to insider @MyTimeToShineHello, this storyline will happen alongside the main conflict the Avengers are facing.
A previous report indicated that in the upcoming Avengers film, Thor and Captain America will embark on a separate mission to locate Loki. Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Loki. This storyline will temporarily remove Thor and Steve from the main group of Avengers as they investigate something connected to the multiverse.
According to the same source, Thor and Captain America are already aboard the Fantastic Four’s ship with Doctor Doom before the team officially appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This places them with Victor Von Doom early in the story, and Robert Downey Jr. plays a version of Doom in the movie.
According to another report, this version of Doom has several hidden allies – both men and women. Their identities are currently unknown, and people are guessing they could be alternate versions of existing characters or devoted followers. There’s even speculation that some might turn out to be well-known heroes like Scarlet Witch or Iron Man.
Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans are back as Thor and Captain America, respectively. The film also features returning favorites like Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Tom Hiddleston. Joining them are new cast members Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Danny Ramirez, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, and Lewis Pullman, with appearances by India Rose Hemsworth, Mabel Cadena, and Hayley Atwell.
Directed by the Russo Brothers and written by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron, the next Avengers film, Doomsday, is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Marvel Studios will then release Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
