According to a source close to Marvel, the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday will feature an incredibly intense battle between two beloved characters. They’ve described it as the biggest and most spectacular fight in the movie – and potentially in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Magneto vs. Doctor Doom could be MCU’s ‘most epic fight’
I’m hearing from a reliable source on X, MyTimeToShineHello, that the fight between Magneto and Doctor Doom in the new movie is absolutely incredible – they’re calling it the most epic battle in the film, and maybe even in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe! This makes sense, because we’ve already heard Ian McKellen’s Magneto is going to be a huge player, possibly the most important of all the X-Men involved.
Marvel Studios announced in March 2025 that Magneto would be returning, with Ian McKellen reprising his role. He’ll be joined by other familiar faces from the X-Men, such as Patrick Stewart, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, and Alan Cumming.
According to a recent post by Daniel Richtman on X (formerly Twitter), Magneto will play a key role in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” movie. Marvel Studios has scheduled the film for release in December 2026 and is currently keeping the story details secret.
During an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show in April 2025, Shang-Chi actor Simu Liu talked about working with acting legends Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. He described being amazed to share the set with them, calling them two of the greatest actors of all time, and expressed his enthusiasm for returning to work on the highly secretive “Avengers: Doomsday” film, which he believes will be spectacular.
A short preview of the movie showed brief appearances by Ian McKellen as Magneto, Patrick Stewart as Professor X, and James Marsden as Cyclops. While rumors suggest a battle between Magneto and Doctor Doom, Marvel Studios hasn’t released any official footage of it. McKellen himself hasn’t spoken publicly about his part in the film or the potential fight.
Marvel Studios will release Avengers: Doomsday in December 2026.
