A user on X (formerly Twitter) is getting a lot of attention for creating a working, Pokemon-like role-playing game. Remarkably, the game was generated by the free AI tool Claude in less than two hours, all from a single, straightforward instruction.
A user named chatgpt21 on X shared a video of themselves playing the game in a web browser. The video shows a traditional Pokemon-like game, featuring tile-based maps, conversations with characters, random battles when walking through grass, turn-based combat, and working shops.
The project was built using Claude 4.6 Opus, an AI model from Anthropic. The creator simply asked the AI to make a game very similar to Pokémon.
I asked Claude 4.6 Opus to create a complete Pokémon-like game, pushing its capabilities to the limit. It spent an hour and a half thinking and used a significant amount of processing power – 110,000 tokens – but successfully generated the entire game in just two attempts. This is easily one of the most impressive things I’ve ever created with AI.

AI creates Pokemon clone with one line prompt
I asked Claude 4.6 Opus to create a Pokémon-like game, pushing it to its limits. It spent an hour and a half thinking, processed a huge amount of data (110,000 tokens), and successfully created something incredibly impressive. I’m really excited about what I’ve built with AI!
The user clarified that the AI decided on its own to create a Pokemon game in the style of the original Game Boy, instead of a newer, 3D version.
I asked it to copy a Pokémon game, and it automatically chose the Game Boy version. It likely did so because it’s the simplest to recreate using HTML.
The demo plays a lot like the original Pokémon games, but with simpler graphics. You move your character between towns, go inside buildings, chat with people, and find Pokémon by walking through tall grass.
The video showcases a battle where the player uses Charmander to beat a Ratata, then continues exploring the game world. It also demonstrates a fully functional Pokemart, where players can buy items, highlighting how ambitious this project is.
