The content for the Honkai: Star Rail 4.0 update was recently revealed during a livestream, giving players the release date and a preview of what’s coming. The Update Will Arrive In Mid-February
HoYoverse previously announced a slight delay for Version 4.0, extending the Version 3.8 update to eight weeks instead of the usual six. The recent livestream has now confirmed the exact release date: two weeks from the livestream, falling on a Wednesday. While this breaks the game’s typical update pattern, players can expect the new version to arrive then.
Okay, so the big 4.0 update for Honkai: Star Rail is finally dropping on February 18th! It’s coming to all platforms at the same time, which is awesome, and honestly, it feels pretty solid that it won’t be pushed back any further. I’m so ready to jump in!

During the livestream, players not only got a sneak peek at upcoming content, but also received promo codes for in-game rewards like Stellar Jade. These Version 4.0 codes allow you to collect resources to use when trying to unlock new characters. You can get a total of 300 Stellar Jade for free in Honkai: Star Rail.

New Characters Confirmed For Honkai: Star Rail 4.0
Sparxie & Yao Guang Debut As The First Elation Characters
The livestream for Version 4.0 of Honkai: Star Rail revealed two new characters: Sparxie and Yao Guang. HoYoverse had previously hinted at these characters, and now they’ve shared full details. Leaks about Sparxie had already surfaced before the announcement. Sparxie is a powerful 5-star Fire character who follows a new character progression path called the Path of the Elation.
Sparxie is a damage-dealing character in Honkai: Star Rail who requires many Skill Points to perform effectively, making her a great partner for Sparkle, particularly after Sparkle’s recent improvements. Because she’s an Elation-based character, Sparxie will inflict more damage as her Elation level increases.
Yao Guang is a new 5-star character who uses Physical attacks and follows the Path of the Elation. While similar to Sparxie, Yao Guang will play a support role, specifically enhancing other Elation characters like Sparxie by increasing their Elation value. She’ll also boost the All-Type RES PEN of her teammates, benefiting characters like Ruan Mei and Tribbie in Honkai: Star Rail.
Just a heads-up for my fellow gamers – Sparkle and Black Swan are getting some major reworks to their abilities in Version 4.0! I’m really excited to see how they change things up.

Players Will Go To Planarcadia

Version 4.0 isn’t just adding new characters; it’s bringing a lot of new content to play! As announced, the Astral Express will travel to Planarcadia, a city inspired by cyberpunk aesthetics. HoYoverse is keeping the specific story details under wraps to preserve the surprise for players. What we do know is that Aeon Aha is organizing the Phantasmoon Games in Planarcadia, and the winner will briefly become an Aeon themselves.
Okay, so everyone in Planarcadia knows and loves the Astral Express – they’re basically celebrities there! And get this, I get to participate in their games as the Trailblazer, which is so cool. It’s also Himeko’s home world, which adds a really personal touch. HoYoverse has been teasing some new faces we’ll meet, but also some returning characters too! I’m super excited to see Silver Wolf and Blade again, and apparently they’ll be exploring different sides of their powers. Plus, they’re hinting at bringing in Nihilux, Ashveil, and even Evanescia – who reminds me a lot of Yae Sakura from Honkai: Star Rail. It sounds like we’ll be getting to know them slowly, which I’m totally fine with!
HoYoverse announced that the next update will include special, limited-time events where players can earn rewards like Stellar Jade.
