Okay, so as a huge Fast & Furious fan, this is pretty cool! Vin Diesel is back as Dom Toretto, but not in a movie – he’s doing the voiceover for the new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood. They dropped a 30-second teaser today, and it starts with Dom asking, ‘You ready?’ It’s a neat way to tie the franchise into the ride, and honestly, it got me hyped!
A new promotional video will air during major NBCUniversal events – the NBA All-Star Game, the Winter Olympics coverage, and the Super Bowl – on NBC and Peacock. The goal of the ads is to get people excited about visiting Universal Studios Hollywood when the new ride, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, opens this summer.
The advertisement looks and feels like a trailer for a Fast & Furious film. It’s also the first look at the ride in motion, showing how the seats tilt sideways like a car drifting on a racetrack.
Universal Studios Hollywood’s new high-speed outdoor roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, reaches speeds of up to 72 mph. The ride features a train of four cars, and each car seats four people. One of the cars is even designed to look like Dom’s famous Dodge Charger from the Fast & Furious movies.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Brings the Franchise to Universal Studios Hollywood
The new “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” roller coaster will feature cars that spin 360 degrees along a 4,100-foot track, creating the feeling of drifting. When it opens, it will be the fastest ride at any Universal theme park. Universal is also planning to build a similar coaster at Universal Studios Orlando.
The advertisement is launching with the title and will be officially released on March 17, 2028. In a post accompanying the ad, Diesel wrote, “The journey won’t be easy… but it’s ours.” He continued, “This path has shaped us and become our lasting legacy… and a legacy truly endures.”
It’s been three years since Fast X hit theaters, and fans are eagerly awaiting the eleventh film in The Fast Saga. This sequel is expected to be the final chapter in the main Fast & Furious series, but it’s uncertain whether it will pick up where Fast X left off – originally planned as Fast X: Part Two. Some reports suggest the new movie might start a completely fresh storyline with a new villain.
The future of Fast Forever has been up in the air for a while. Louis Leterrier is directing, and Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel are writing the script. The movie has been delayed several times – first because of the Hollywood strikes, and more recently because the studio wants to keep the production costs below $200 million, otherwise the project might be cancelled.
Sources say the studio is considering reducing the roles of some actors in future films. The cast of Fast X was extensive, featuring Vin Diesel, Alan Ritchson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Daniela Melchior, Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Rita Moreno, Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, and Charlize Theron.
