A mother from New Zealand made history on the internet when she bravely ran a full 100 meters, experiencing what every parent dreads – accidentally stepping on LEGO bricks without shoes.
Guinness World Records has housed a variety of strange and uncomfortable feats, ranging from the quickest way to roll an orange using only your nose to the highest number of tattoos administered in a single day. However, among these records, none seems as universally challenging as running over sharp plastic blocks barefoot.
Gabrielle Wall’s endeavor was not solely about boasting rights; instead, her objective was to break a record. The 100-meter track was constructed using an impressive 661 pounds of LEGO blocks, generously donated by the New Zealand charity Imagination Station. With cameras recording, she sprinted barefoot over the track in an astonishingly quick 24.75 seconds, a speed that earned her the title of the Official Guinness World Record holder for Fastest 100m run on LEGO bricks without shoes.
Most painful world record: 100m LEGO run
Initially, Gabrielle Wall’s record-breaking feat was announced in January, but it gained widespread attention several months later when Guinness World Records posted a video of it on Instagram. The video swiftly garnered significant attention, with 9.4 million views on Instagram and 5.4 million on TikTok, as people were captivated by her impressive speed and high pain tolerance.
She managed to catch the notice of various brands, such as Adidas, who expressed interest in providing her with shoes on their next encounter. Some people playfully remarked that what she achieved was just “an ordinary Tuesday evening routine.
Others have attempted to discredit the record, arguing that it’s not comparable to accidentally stepping on a single LEGO brick, since LEGOs are only painful if they catch you unawares. Nevertheless, this record seems to be one that few competitors aspire to replicate.
