Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently met with popular American streamer Kai Cenat while visiting a school he supports in Nigeria, and expressed his admiration for Cenat afterwards.
In March 2024, popular streamer Kai Cenat visited Nigeria and toured a local school. He was deeply touched by the overcrowded classrooms and made a commitment to help improve the learning environment for the students.
He promised to provide whatever resources we need, stating he’d personally contribute $5 million to build a new school in the area during his visit.
During his September 2025 Mafiathon 3 livestream, he updated fans on the project, inviting representatives from South Africa and Nigeria to detail how it was being built.

During the livestream, Kai announced the school’s location would be in Yaba, Lagos, and that all students would attend for free.

Fans have been wondering what was happening with the project for months. They finally got an update on February 3, 2026, when Kai Cenat visited the school he originally pledged to build in 2024.
Makoko Children School and Orphanage Home gets its name from its location near Makoko, a Lagos neighborhood often called the ‘Venice of Africa’ because of its network of canals. The school recently had a grand opening celebration with popular streamer Kai Cenat, who was joined by enthusiastic students and even met with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
