Titus Welliver, who played Detective Harry Bosch in the seven-season series Bosch (2014-2021), recently shared whether he’ll be back for season two of the Bosch spin-off, Ballard, after appearing as a guest star in the first season.
After the original Prime Video series concluded, the actor continued playing the character in Bosch: Legacy and also appeared in three episodes of its spin-off, Ballard.
Though Bosch and Bosch: Legacy have finished their runs, Titus Welliver isn’t leaving the world of Prime Video just yet. He recently told FabTV (via Collider) that he’s scheduled to return for the series Ballard and will be starting filming soon.
He announced he’ll be filming three new episodes starting in February, reuniting him with Maggie Q and the team from ‘Ballard.’ Welliver expressed his excitement about returning to the ‘Harry Bosch’ universe, expecting it to be enjoyable as always.
Starting in February, I’ll be filming three episodes and reuniting with Maggie Q and the team from Ballard. I’m really looking forward to it – it’s going to be a lot of fun!
Following the conclusion of Bosch: Legacy in spring 2025, Prime Video quickly continued the story with Ballard, debuting on the service just under three months later.
As a huge crime drama fan, I’m really hooked on this new spinoff! It follows Detective Renée Ballard, played by Maggie Q, who heads up the cold case unit at the LAPD. What’s fascinating is that as she digs into these old cases, she keeps uncovering a lot of corruption and misconduct – and it turns out the LAPD itself is sometimes involved. It’s a really compelling setup for a mystery.
The first season of Ballard concluded with the main character being arrested, falsely accused of killing a retired police officer. The upcoming second season will likely pick up right there, continuing this dramatic plot.
Maggie Q stars in Ballard alongside Courtney Taylor, Michael Mosley, Rebecca Field, Victoria Moroles, Amy Hill, and John Carroll Lynch. Several actors from the Bosch universe also appeared in guest roles on Ballard, including Troy Evans, Gregory Scott Cummins, Jamie Hector, Stephen Chang, and Mimi Rogers.
Prime Video’s Ballard has received excellent reviews, achieving a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The Bosch series and its spin-off, Bosch: Legacy, have also been highly praised, earning scores of 97% and 100% respectively.
Before starring as Bosch, Welliver had already built a successful career with roles in films like Argo and Transformers: Age of Extinction, and television shows including NYPD Blue, Deadwood, Lost, Sons of Anarchy, and The Good Wife. Even during the run of Bosch and its sequel, Bosch: Legacy, he continued to take on parts in other popular series such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Mandalorian, and The Equalizer.
In addition to landing a role in the new crime series The Westies alongside J.K. Simmons, Welliver will continue to play his popular character, Harry Bosch.
Okay, so fans are still waiting for news on Ballard season 2, and unfortunately, there’s no firm premiere date just yet. But the latest word is we can probably expect it sometime in either 2026 or 2027 – so it’s a bit of a wait, but at least we have a general timeframe!
