The upcoming new direction for the comic series is looking very promising, and recent cover art from Jock suggests it will be a standout run. The first issue arrives in March.
Artist Jock shared the striking cover art for the new Daredevil comic on X (formerly Twitter), explaining it was created using acrylics, spray paint, and ink. The cover features Daredevil with a determined look, set against a dark backdrop, and includes a map of New York City visible on his back. This artwork is the latest preview for the upcoming Daredevil series, which will be written by Chip Zdarsky (Planet She-Hulk) and illustrated by Lee Garbett (Death of Doctor Strange), continuing the adventures of the Man Without Fear.
Marvel is promising a fresh take on Daredevil, designed to appeal to both new and existing fans. The new story will feature Matt Murdock as a law professor while he faces a new enemy, Omen, who has a personal grudge against his life as a superhero.
Secrets are rising in Hell’s Kitchen! A dangerous new villain named Omen is after Matt Murdock, forcing Daredevil to fight back. However, Omen is more complex than he seems, and Daredevil will have to uncover the truth while navigating a completely new and unfamiliar life.
Jock’s cover is one of many special variants being released to celebrate the new Daredevil comic series. Marvel has announced this will be the second comic offered in sealed bags, following Ultimate Endgame #1. These ‘Blind Bags’ give fans a chance to get rare variant covers, some of which are unique, hand-drawn sketch covers.
The latest issue’s main cover art is by Lee Garbett. Collectors can also find special foil variants by Ryan Stegman and a commemorative 250th issue cover by Greg Land inside blind bags. There will also be a variant featuring Marvel Television artwork, plus several other designs by popular Marvel artists.
Daredevil Team Promises an ‘Authentic’ Run with ‘Fresh Ideas’
Jock’s stunning cover for Daredevil #1 hints at the exciting energy readers can expect inside. The creative team has shared their enthusiasm for the new storyline and promised some unexpected twists for fans. Writer Chip Zdarsky explained, “I’m thrilled to work on a character I love with an artist whose work I admire. Together, we’re delving into the darker, more atmospheric side of Daredevil.” He added, “Lee Garbett’s art is full of emotion and style, and he’s the perfect partner to help bring this version of Daredevil to life.”
Garbett confirmed their enthusiasm, saying they approached the project with a real passion for the character and a strong idea of what they wanted to achieve with the book. They praised Steph’s writing, noting she perfectly captured the feel and essence of Daredevil. Everything feels true to the character, while also offering new and exciting twists.
Daredevil #1 goes on sale starting on March 25.
