The action thriller Copshop, released five years ago, is currently very popular on streaming services. It’s now the most-watched movie on Netflix, surpassing the recent release The Rip, which stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.
As of February 4, 2026, Copshop is the most popular movie on Netflix in the United States, according to FlixPatrol, bumping The Rip down to second place. However, worldwide audiences have a different preference. Released in 2021, Copshop features Gerard Butler as Bob Viddick, a professional hitman who unexpectedly becomes involved in a dangerous conflict with a rookie police officer (Alexis Louder) and a clever swindler (Frank Grillo).
Viewers who saw Copshop when it was released in theaters in 2021 probably won’t be surprised it’s now popular on streaming services. The film was well-received by both critics and audiences, earning a “Certified Fresh” rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics generally agreed that while it doesn’t reinvent the action genre, fans looking for a solid action movie will enjoy it.
Viewers on Rotten Tomatoes also reacted positively, giving the film a 74% approval rating based on over 250 reviews. Though a few found the plot somewhat predictable, many praised its exciting action and strong performances from Gerard Butler and Alexis Louder, making Copshop a notable action film.

Gerard Butler’s Latest Film Fizzled Out at the Box Office
Since appearing in the 2021 film Copshop, Gerard Butler has been in many action movies, including the popular live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon. His newest film, Greenland 2: Migration, a sequel to 2020’s Greenland, hasn’t performed as well as the first movie. It was released in theaters last month to generally mixed reviews, despite costing $90 million to make.
Gerald Butler has a new movie coming up called All-Star Weekend, a comedy/drama directed by Jamie Foxx. While details about his character are still under wraps, it’s been said he’ll be playing a Russian gymnast. He’s also working on another film that’s currently being developed.
